The photo is a colored scanning electron microscope photograph of the surface of a medical cannabis leaf. The pointed hairs are called lithocyst cells.  They contain cystolyths (calcium carbonate crystals). Glandular cells called trichomes are present in the foreground.  They are of two types of trichomes. Capitate trichomes have stalks with rounded tops and peltate trichomes are rounded and closer to the leaf surface.  Trichomes secrete a resin containing delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is an active ingredient in medical cannabis.
